[The fact that Dipper hadn't realized that Gideon had left Gravity Falls until his sister came home in a terrible mood about the whole thing really spoke volumes about his current mental state. While the fact of knowing that that particular thorn in his side was finally gone- presumably for the entire summer- injected some new vigor into the boy, the fact that Gideon actually beat him still remained. He was back to square one with only journal 2 in his possession. Really, he had taken two steps forwards and one step backwards right into a pit of quicksand. He'd lost journal 3 and his amulet, which was irreplaceable.

It was no surprise that when he finally had to tell Mabel everything about what happened to him over the past month she was not at all happy about it. Having to incur her wrath was just part of the misery he'd gone through.

The first thing he knew to do was to consult the only journal he had left for something else. Anything to get him back on track again. He and Mabel had planned to go back to where they found their amulets before to see if there were others, but that wasn't likely. They wouldn't have a break in performances long enough to go search anyway, so he couldn't rely on that in the meantime. Unfortunately so far, however, the journal hadn't provided much by way of new tricks for him to utilize. He was....basically left remotely powerless, beyond the power he had over the townsfolk in general.

Of course that wasn't enough. Not for Dipper Gleeful. He yearned to be powerful again, to know he had something solid to fall back on. Yet, all he had left was his physical strength, which was menial at best, and his wits.
Wit can only get you so far when your heart isn't in it.

There's such a long pause after Pacifica knocks on the door that at first it appears that nobody is home. That is, until the door is pulled ajar just slightly, enough so she can see a chain lock being pulled taught from the inside. She'll only be able to see an eye peering at her through partial darkness, widening for a split second before slanting sharply.]

.....Go away.
